Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Ingredients

For the Pretzel Crust:

  • 2 cups crushed pretzels (about 3 cups whole pretzels)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

For the Cream Cheese Filling:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup whipped topping (such as Cool Whip)

For the Strawberry Topping:

  • 1 package (6 oz) strawberry gelatin mix
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced (or use frozen strawberries, thawed and sliced)

Directions

Prepare the Pretzel Crust:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine crushed pretzels, granulated sugar, and melted butter. Stir until the pretzels are evenly coated.
  3. Press the pretzel mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish to form an even crust.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool completely.

Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling:

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  2. Gently fold in the whipped topping until well combined.
  3. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust.

Prepare the Strawberry Topping:

  1. In a medium bowl, dissolve the strawberry gelatin mix in the boiling water. Stir until completely dissolved.
  2. Let the gelatin mixture cool slightly, then gently fold in the sliced strawberries.

Assemble the Salad:

  1. Pour the strawberry mixture over the cream cheese layer, spreading it evenly.
  2. Refrigerate the salad for at least 2 hours, or until the gelatin is set.

Serve:

  1. Cut into squares and serve chilled.
