Passion Fruit Iced Tea Recipe

Ingredients

cups water

black tea bags (or 4 tablespoons loose black tea)

cup fresh passion fruit pulp (about 4-6 ripe passion fruits)

1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste; you can substitute with honey or a sweetener of your choice)

1/4 cup fresh mint leaves, plus extra for garnish

lime, sliced (for garnish)

Ice cubes

Instructions

1. Brew the Tea:

In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a gentle boil. Remove from heat and add the black tea bags. Allow them to steep for about 10 minutes, depending on how strong you prefer your tea.

      2. Add Sweetener:

Once steeped to your liking, remove the tea bags. While the tea is still warm, stir in the sugar until fully dissolved. Taste and adjust sweetness if desired.

          3. Incorporate Passion Fruit:

Cut the passion fruits in half and scoop out the pulp. Strain the pulp through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing down to extract the juice, and discard the seeds. Mix the freshly strained passion fruit juice into the sweetened tea.

              4. Infuse with Mint:

Add the fresh mint leaves to the tea mixture, stirring gently to incorporate. Cover and let it steep for another 5 minutes to allow the mint flavor to infuse.

                  5. Chill:

Remove the mint leaves and transfer the tea to the refrigerator. Chill for at least 30 minutes or until cold.

                      6. Serve:

Fill glasses with ice cubes, pour the chilled passion fruit iced tea over the ice, and garnish with fresh mint leaves and a slice of lime.

Tea Variety: Feel free to experiment with different types of tea, such as green tea or herbal tea, for varied flavors.

Sweetness Options: If you're looking for a healthier option, consider using agave nectar, maple syrup, or stevia.

Passion Fruit: If fresh passion fruits are unavailable, you can use frozen passion fruit puree; just thaw it before using.
