Classic Skillet Salisbury Steak – Comfort Food at Its Best!
👨🍳 How to Make Salisbury Steak
1️⃣ Prepare the Patties
- In a large bowl, mix grated onion with breadcrumbs. Let sit for 5 minutes to absorb moisture.
- Add the remaining patty ingredients (except oil) and mix gently until just combined. Don’t overmix!
- Shape into 6 oval patties, about 1-inch thick, and press a slight dimple in the center of each.
2️⃣ Sear the Patties
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear patties for 3-4 minutes per side until browned. (They don’t need to be fully cooked yet!)
- Remove patties from the skillet and set aside.
3️⃣ Make the Mushroom Gravy 🍄
- In the same skillet, melt butter, then add diced onions. Cook for 3 minutes until softened.
- Add sliced mushrooms and garlic, cooking until mushrooms release their moisture and start to brown (5-7 minutes).
- Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms, stir, and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard. Bring to a simmer.
4️⃣ Simmer & Serve
- Return patties to the skillet, making sure they’re covered in gravy.
- Cover and cook for 10-12 minutes, until patties are fully cooked and the gravy has thickened.
- Taste & season with salt and pepper as needed.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot!
